Cakebread Cellars:
A website that sets wine at the table

Problem

Cakebread’s website ran on Salesforce, and it had become hard to use, slow to change and costly to maintain. It held back search, it left the marketing team waiting on outside help for simple content changes, and it made customers work to find wines, events, recipes and visit information. For a winery whose name rests on hospitality and on wine with food, that friction showed on every page.

Background

Cakebread asked for a new site alongside its move to Commerce7, with a separate partner migrating the commerce data. We began with digital and brand discovery, reading the old site’s analytics to see how customers actually moved through it, then took a full content inventory and drew a new information architecture. Customers had already been frustrated once, so we kept the paths they knew, from the navigation to the way they bought, and rebuilt what sat underneath. Two design directions went to Cakebread in Figma across the home, shop, product, club and visit templates, and the team chose one to refine.

Solution

The new site launched in June 2026 on a custom WordPress theme and our Enhanced Commerce7 for WordPress integration, with every page built in blocks so the Cakebread team edits its own content. Recipes now sit with the shop: a recipe offers the wine to pour with it, ready to add to the cart, and a wine page suggests dishes to cook. Tastings book through Tock without leaving the site, and cooking classes and winery events sell tickets from an events calendar. Since launch we have hosted the site, scanned it weekly against WCAG 2.2 AA and kept improving it month by month.

Wine, food and a seat at the table

Cakebread has paired its wines with food from its own kitchen for 50 years, and the old site kept the two apart. We built the new one so that a recipe leads to a wine, a wine leads back to a recipe, and a tasting or a cooking class is booked from the page that describes it.

Enhanced recipes integration

Tied recipes to the shop, so each recipe sells its paired wine and each wine page suggests dishes to cook.

Integrated events calendar

Built an events calendar where visitors find cooking classes and winery events and buy tickets on the site.

Embedded Tock booking

Embedded Tock reservations in the home page and the visit page, so visitors book a tasting without leaving the site.
