Carucci Wines:
Winery website design for a family winery in Los Olivos
Problem
Eric Carucci left a finance job to make wine, starting with a batch of Merlot in his parents’ San Diego garage in 2009. He opened the Carucci tasting room in Los Olivos in 2019, three months before COVID, and for the first two years he poured tastings with his laptop open, still working his day job remotely. A family winery in a town full of tasting rooms needed a website that could stand beside anyone’s, at a cost an independent winemaker could carry.
Background
When we sat down with Eric in November 2025 to rework the site’s copy, one thread ran through everything he told us: people who visit Carucci meet Eric. He greets them, pours for them and answers every question about how the wine was made. Most visitors drive up from Los Angeles. Some are sent over by a friend, a club member or another tasting room, and others are drawn in from the street, and they come to find something new. In the early days he had a sign outside that read Taste with the Winemaker. People teased him about it, and it worked.
Solution
We built Carucci’s website in 2021, and in November 2025 our work grew to cover the copy, local search and email. We made that meeting with Eric the center of the site. The visit page, Tastings with the Winemaker, answers what a day-tripper wants to know before setting out: well-behaved dogs are welcome, and so is food from any of the spots in town. The About page, From Garage to Glass, tells Eric’s story from the garden hoe to the tasting room. We look after Carucci’s Google Business Profile and local search, and write the emails, including the launch of La Mia Metà, Carucci’s first sparkling wine.
“My whole focus was to learn how to make something great, which we’ve done. But if you have a great product that no one knows about, does it even really matter if it’s a great product?”
